Care4Romania - Mission and Purpose

"Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead." (James 2 v 15-17)

Care 4 Romania was set up as an independent UK charity in January 2004 to provide support for the poor in Romania.

Our role is to partner with missionary workers in based in Romania - to communicate their needs, raise funds and initiate prayer support.

We provide some short term aid for emergency situations - for example, distribution of food or provision of medicines for children or the elderly.

However, most of our work aims to make a significant, long term change in people's circumstances. This includes improvements to their homes - new windows, stoves or floors - or building new brick built houses to withstand the harsh winters. We provide funds and building materials for housing and give practical help as teams go out and participate in the building work. An essential part of the work is to restore people's dignity by making them less dependant on outside help. So the local people are encouraged to participate in building their own homes, and those of their neighbours. Where possible, we provide opportunities for paid employment. Educational projects allow young people to achieve qualifications that will enable them to find work on leaving school, to support themselves and their families.

What makes Care4Romania different from secular aid charities? Persecution, oppression and poverty have devastated the Romanian people. We believe that Jesus restores hope to these people, healing the pain of the past and offering eternal life to all who believe in him.
